When professional strong men Thor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall met, it was billed as the heaviest fight ever, but Jarrell Miller has just tipped them both for weight.
Miller, who in 2019 was due to fight Anthony Joshua for his unified heavyweight world titles only to fail a series of drug tests, has not fought since 2018.
During his stint in the wilderness, he was drafted in by Tyson Fury to help him prepare for his title defence against Dillian Whyte, and now faces Ariel Esteban Bracamonte.
The 33-year-old New Yorker’s comeback will be on a card in Argentina against an opponent best known for being stopped by Dave Allen in 2018.
Regularly registering over the 21 stone mark in his career, Miller has always been known as a hefty fighter, hence the nickname ‘Big Baby’, but at Wednesday’s weigh in the American almost broke the scales.
Miller weighed in at an incredible 24 stone and five pounds. For reference that is heavier than both Thor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall, who weighed in for their fight – dubbed the ‘heaviest in boxing history’ – at 23st 9lbs and 22st 3lbs respectively.
With that being said, Miller has still not been able to quite outdo the infamous Eric Esch, otherwise known as ‘Butterbean‘, who once weighed in at 30st 6lbs when he fought Kirk Lawton in his final outing.
There is no maximum weight in heavyweight boxing, but the minimum is 14st 5lbs (200Ibs), so in theory Miller could fight someone in the same weight class who is 10 stone lighter than him.
After the weigh-in, Miller and Bracamonte faced off and it appeared it might ignite at one point when ‘Big Baby’ pushed his Argentine rival.
It seems, however, that all that weight has not come with much power, as Bracamonte was barely moved and the situation was quickly diffused.
In the ring, though, it was Miller who came out on top, beating Bracamonte by unanimous decision after ten rounds.
