Manchester City midfielder Rodri reveals he had ‘three s*** days’ after their Champions League final loss to Chelsea.
Having tasted defeat in their first ever European final, the club are extremely determined to go one step further this time around as they kick off their campaign against RB Leipzig.
A solitary goal from Kai Havertz in the final saw Chelsea win their second Champions League title and it left a bitter feeling for Rodri and his team mates.
Now they will be determined to right that wrong and says you learn more in defeat than in victory’.
“You have three s*** days the next days, you cannot even talk to your family or friends, they’re always there to support you but your face is not as good as you want,” Rodri said.
“This is football, you can win or lose and we move on. In the defeat you learn more than in the victories.”
As Pep Guardiola’s men embark on a new campaign they will be boosted with the addition of Jack Grealish who has started well at the Etihad.
Given his price tag, £100 million, a British record, expectations are high but Rodri says he will be ‘an important player for us’.
“Jack is a young guy, his level, his quality, the way he fits into the team, the work he has done since he came here with the humility that a Man City player has to have.
“We’re very happy of his involve[ment] in the team, the way he understands the game and for sure he is going to be an important player for us.”
